Growing a Greener Future: A Plantation Drive with the Students of Bermajur Tebhanga Sahid Smriti Vidyalaya

At Sukher Swarga Foundation, we believe that true progress lies in harmony with our environment. Our mission extends beyond providing essential services; it's about nurturing a sustainable future for the communities we serve. We had the incredible opportunity to bring this vision to life at Bermajur Tebhanga Sahid Smriti Vidyalaya in West Bengal, with a special plantation drive and an interactive awareness session.

The energy was palpable as we were greeted by the enthusiastic students and dedicated teachers. The school's grounds, with their vast open space, were the perfect canvas for our shared effort. We provided a variety of saplings, each one a promise of a healthier planet. From fruit-bearing trees to essential shade providers, every plant was carefully chosen to thrive in the local climate and provide long-term benefits to the school and its surrounding area.

The students, with their youthful energy and genuine curiosity, were the stars of the day. They eagerly got their hands dirty, learning the proper way to plant a sapling—from digging the right-sized pit to gently placing the young plant and ensuring it was securely watered. It wasn't just an activity; it was a hands-on lesson in responsibility and the power of collective action.

Beyond the physical act of planting, the heart of our event was the awareness session. We spoke to the students about the critical role trees play in our ecosystem. We discussed everything from how trees provide us with clean air and food to how they protect our communities from the harsh effects of climate change and natural disasters, a topic particularly relevant in the Sundarbans region where we often work. The students asked thoughtful questions, demonstrating a deep understanding and a desire to be part of the solution.

This event at Bermajur Tebhanga Sahid Smriti Vidyalaya is a testament to Sukher Swarga Foundation's ongoing commitment to environmental conservation. It's an investment not just in trees, but in the minds of the next generation. By empowering these young students with knowledge and a sense of ownership, we are confident they will become the green warriors of tomorrow, protecting our planet for years to come.

Sundarban Mangrove Nursery | Sukher Swarga's Mangrove Nursery #H2 #H3

The Sundarbans is a special place, World Heritage Site/ Biosphere Reserve/ National Park/ Wildlife sanctuary/ Tiger Reserve full of amazing nature. But it's also a place that needs protection from climate change. Mangrove trees are the best natural defense, and a group called the Sukher Swarga Foundation, Top 10 Sundarban Grassroots NGO is doing incredible work to protect them. This year, 2025 the foundation has done something amazing. They grew 100,000 (one lakh) mangrove saplings in their nursery with the support of Self help Group Women till now. That's a huge number and shows just how dedicated they are to their mission. They don't just use these saplings for one thing.
