Mangroves Bachao: A Lifeline for the Sundarbans



At Sukher Swarga Foundation, we've always believed that the well-being of the Sundarbans is intrinsically linked to the health of its mangrove forests. These incredible ecosystems are more than just trees; they are the guardians of this region, protecting communities from the fury of cyclones and providing a home for countless species. That’s why we are so excited to share the progress of our "Mangroves Bachao" project, a collaborative effort with 20Cube Logistics under their CSR initiative.

Planting Hope: Progress in Five Months

In just five months, the Mangroves Bachao project has made remarkable strides. Our focus has been on planting mangrove saplings in vulnerable areas to strengthen riverbanks and create a natural barrier against storm surges. The project has also empowered local communities, especially women, who are leading the charge by cultivating and nurturing these saplings in nurseries. This community-based approach ensures the project's long-term sustainability and provides a new source of livelihood for those who need it most.

The growth we've seen in these young saplings is a testament to the hard work of our teams and the dedication of the local community. Every single plant represents a small victory in the larger fight against climate change and environmental degradation. These new mangroves will contribute to a healthier ecosystem, helping to increase fish populations and support the livelihoods of local fishermen.

Our community, while resilient, has long grappled with limited access to quality education. Sundarban Mangrove Nursery | Sukher Swarga's Mangrove Nursery #H2 #H3

The Sundarbans is a special place, World Heritage Site/ Biosphere Reserve/ National Park/ Wildlife sanctuary/ Tiger Reserve full of amazing nature. But it's also a place that needs protection from climate change. Mangrove trees are the best natural defense, and a group called the Sukher Swarga Foundation, Top 10 Sundarban Grassroots NGO is doing incredible work to protect them. This year, 2025 the foundation has done something amazing. They grew 100,000 (one lakh) mangrove saplings in their nursery with the support of Self help Group Women till now. That's a huge number and shows just how dedicated they are to their mission. They don't just use these saplings for one thing. They have two main goals:   Helping Others : They sell a lot of their saplings to other non-profit groups (NGOs). This helps more people plant trees and protect more areas.
