A Green Tribute: Celebrating Nirmal Raghavan’s Birthday with the Mangrove Bachao Project



Nature is the greatest gift we have, and protecting it is our ultimate responsibility. Today, on the birthday of Mr. Nirmal Raghavan (Dada), a true environmental hero and the visionary founder of Mega Foundation, we at Sukher Swarga Foundation decided to celebrate in a way that resonates with his mission.

A Special Gift for a Green Warrior

To honor Nirmal Dada’s relentless work in Chennai and across India—especially his dedication to water conservation and reforestation—we have planted 5 Mangrove trees in the Sundarbans under our "Mangrove Bachao Project." While he works tirelessly with his team at Mega Foundation to transform landscapes, we wanted to dedicate this small gesture from the heart of the Sundarbans to him.

Our Journey: 5 Lakh Mangroves and Counting

At Sukher Swarga Foundation, our mission has always been to protect the fragile ecosystem of the Sundarbans. We are proud to share that we have already planted 5 Lakh (500,000) mangroves. These trees act as:

 Natural Storm Shields: Protecting coastal communities from cyclones.

 Carbon Sinks: Fighting global warming effectively.

 Biodiversity Hubs: Providing a home for local wildlife.

Inspired by Mega Foundation

Nirmal Raghavan’s work in Chennai serves as a blueprint for us. Whether it is desilting lakes or planting urban forests, his grit and determination inspire NGOs like ours to dream bigger.

Sundarban Mangrove Nursery | Sukher Swarga's Mangrove Nursery #H2 #H3

The Sundarbans is a special place, World Heritage Site/ Biosphere Reserve/ National Park/ Wildlife sanctuary/ Tiger Reserve full of amazing nature. But it's also a place that needs protection from climate change. Mangrove trees are the best natural defense, and a group called the Sukher Swarga Foundation, Top 10 Sundarban Grassroots NGO is doing incredible work to protect them. This year, 2025 the foundation has done something amazing. They grew 100,000 (one lakh) mangrove saplings in their nursery with the support of Self help Group Women till now. That's a huge number and shows just how dedicated they are to their mission. They don't just use these saplings for one thing.
