Mangroves Bachao: Our Mission Continues!

Image
Mangrove bachao project  The monsoon rains have arrived in the Sundarbans , and for us at Sukher Swarga Foundation , it's a call to action! Today marks the official start of our Mangroves Bachao project for the year, a crucial effort in our ongoing commitment to protecting and restoring the vital ecosystems of this incredible region. Even with the rain falling steadily, our dedicated teams are out in full force, putting up fencing in our chosen plantation sites. This isn't just about marking boundaries; it's about safeguarding the future. The fences will protect our precious young saplings from grazing animals and other disturbances, giving them the best possible chance to establish themselves and thrive. And speaking of saplings, we're thrilled to announce that we've already prepared over 100,000 mangrove saplings – each one a tiny beacon of hope for a resilient Sundarbans. But we're not stopping there! Our ambitious target is to prepare and plant an addition...

Mangrove Bachao: A Story of Fences, Forests, and a Future

Image
MANGROVE BACHAO PROJECT   In the heart of the Sundarbans , where the land meets the sea, a quiet but powerful movement is taking root. It's the "Mangrove Bachao" project, led by the Sukher Swarga Foundation . This project is much more than just planting trees; it's a testament to community resilience and the power of a simple, strategic fence. When we plant a young mangrove sapling, it's a fragile promise. It must survive the constant push and pull of the tides, the currents of the river, and the threat of grazing animals. That's why the next step in our process is crucial: the art of building a protective fence . Our team, working side-by-side with local villagers, constructs these barriers using locally sourced materials like sturdy bamboo and discarded fishing nets. They act as guardians, giving each sapling the time and space it needs to grow. But the fences do more than just protect. They also slow down the tidal flow , causing silt and sediment to dr...

A Greener Tomorrow: Our Mangrove Mission

From barren lands to a thriving green paradise—the transformation is nothing short of a miracle. Six months ago, we embarked on a journey to heal a piece of our planet, and today, we are witnessing the incredible results of our collective efforts. The top image shows our dedicated team, including 29 of our incredible women beneficiaries, during our initial planting drive. With their hard work and unwavering spirit, we planted 14,000 mangrove saplings, transforming a desolate landscape into a place of hope. Just six months later, the bottom image reveals a lush, vibrant ecosystem, a living testament to the power of nature and community action. This year, Sukher Swarga Foundation has cultivated a staggering 100,000 mangrove saplings in our nursery. These aren't just trees; they are the future—a natural defense against cyclones, a haven for biodiversity, and a source of livelihood for coastal communities. This monumental effort was made possible through the generous support of our p...

Transforming the Barren: Our Journey to a Greener Sundarbans 🌳

Image
Nine months ago, we looked at a patch of barren mud, a landscape stripped of its natural defense. Today, that very land is a testament to what's possible. It's home to 7,000 thriving mangrove saplings, each a symbol of our commitment and a beacon of hope for a more resilient coastline. This "before and after" isn't just a picture; it's proof that with passion and perseverance, we can restore life to our precious Sundarbans. A Major Milestone and a Call to Action We've hit a significant milestone, successfully growing over 100,000 mangrove saplings in our nursery this year. These young trees are healthy and strong, but they're waiting for their final home. We cannot plant this many saplings alone. Our vision of a greener, more secure future for the Sundarbans depends on collaboration. We are urgently seeking partnerships with CSR initiatives, NGOs, and individual donors. Your support will help us turn these saplings into a protective green barrier, sec...

Mangrove Champion Of Sundarban - Debkanta Manna

Image
DEBKANTA MANNA  Champion Series of Sukher Swarga Foundation ------ In the beautiful but tough lands of the Sunderbans, a man named Debkanta Manna is doing amazing work. He is an Operations Executive for the Sukher Swarga Foundation. His job is to lead a very important project: to save and grow the forests of mangrove trees. Debkanta is from Manipur, Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas, and he studied at West Bengal State University. But what makes him special is his huge heart and his endless dedication. You can see it in how he cares for every single tree. The Big Challenge Planting a tree might sound easy, but not here. The Sunderbans is a place where the sea and land meet. The ground is made of soft mud. The ocean's tides, both high and low, constantly hit the land with strong waves. These waves can easily wash away a small plant. The water is also very salty, which is not good for many young plants. Because of all these challenges, it’s one of the hardest places in the world to pla...

A Humbled Heart and Mud on Our Hands: The Story Behind the "Environment Hero" Award

Image
The entire Sukher Swarga Foundation family is filled with immense pride today as our founder and CEO, Swapan Suin, receives the prestigious "Environment Hero" 2024 award. While this is a profound personal honor for Swapan, he is quick to state that this recognition is not a trophy for one person. It is a powerful testament to the tireless spirit of countless individuals and organizations dedicated to protecting our planet. This award belongs to every single person who has stood by us on this journey. From the very beginning, our foundation has operated with a simple belief: we don't just talk about change from an office; we make it happen in the field. Our work is done with our hands in the soil, planting mangroves, establishing nurseries, and standing on the front lines against environmental challenges. It’s been a road filled with many obstacles, but with every small step, we've moved forward. This award is a tribute to our incredible team, our beloved students, and...

A Story of Impact: From Hope to Reality

Image
When Sukher Swarga Foundation first began, our mission was simple yet profound: to create a "paradise of happiness" for our community. We started with the quiet, everyday needs of the people around us—a lack of clean spaces, children who needed access to learning, and families who needed support to build a healthier future. We knew that true social impact wasn't built in a single day, but through tireless, consistent effort, one small step at a time. Over time, those small steps became a powerful movement. Our environmental team, often working under the hot sun, organized local clean-up drives and led tree-planting initiatives that brought new life to once-barren areas. In the realm of education, we saw the spark of curiosity in every child's eye and worked to nurture it, providing school supplies and access to tutoring sessions that transformed simple lessons into a lifelong love of learning. Our commitment to social and health initiatives was equally heartfelt. We o...

Sundarban Mangrove Magic Before After within 8 months

Image
The air in the Sundarbans is full of life. It tells a story of the big rivers, the green trees, and the living things that call this place home. Lately, there is a new story in the air. It's a story of hope, of hard work, and of little green plants growing tall. Sukher Swarga Foundation is a local NGO from the Sundarbans, started by people who live here and love this place. We work with our hands and hearts to help our community and protect our home. Last December, our small team and our wonderful volunteers got together. We worked very hard, and in just one small part of the Sundarbans, we planted 6,500 new trees. Imagine that! Six thousand five hundred little trees. Each one was a promise for a better future. Each tree was a way to help the Sundarbans stay safe and healthy. It showed that with a lot of people working together, even a small act can make a very big difference. This year, the work is even bigger. In our nursery, we have already grown 100,000 new baby trees! They are...
